Lipsmacking yummy fuit dippers-ideal for fussy eaters!

There's no hesitation to get tasting when there's chocolate.........in this week's cooking session we made 2 yummy sauces for dipping fruit into, also to pour over fuit salad & icecream! The children enjoyed mixing up the runny ingredients and noting the diference between melting chocolate or leaving chocolate in it's solid form.
So there was lots of sticky fingers and messy faces but also satisfied tummies! If you would like your child to enjoy more fruit, then this is a great way to encourage them to help themselves. Here's a tip for fussy eaters - if offering apple or pears ( or other fruit with a chewy skin) then make it easy & safe, and peel the skin from the fruit. Sometimes it's the chewy skin that will put your child off enjoying the goodness of fruit!

Cinnamon & citrus scented decorations!

Cinnamon and citrus scented decorations!

Today's action in the Little Sparrow's test kitchen involved making salt dough christmas decorations - one portion of dough was flavoured with cinnamon & the other, with orange oil. So..look out for some beautifully scented decorations to adorn your tree!

While making the dough, the children had the opportunity to squish it through their fingers & then roll into a snowball shaped ball! Some of  the children were reluctant to have the squishy dough on their hands so we rubbed olive oil onto their hands first - this saves the dough sticking!
Then it was action time with the rolling pins & cookie cutters!
